The first annual Maryland Crime Victims’ Rights Conference, under the auspices of the Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Control & Prevention (GOCCP) and the State Board of Victim Services, will provide an overview of crime victims’ rights under the state of Maryland law - insuring that all crime victims are treated with dignity, respect and compassion during all phases of the criminal justice process.
The Conference will further provide for attendees to listen, learn and network with speakers and peers about all emerging victims’ issues and solutions. The Maryland Community, on a whole, is invited to attend and share their experiences, while learning about innovative approaches to treating safe communities and empowering victims.
Some of the topics will include Human Trafficking, Justice Reinvestment, Family Justice Centers, Victim Compensation, Victim Rights Laws, Identity Theft & Fraud, Underserved Populations, Cyber Crimes, Interventions or Child Victims, and Illuminations…artwork creating change…about being a victim…about being a victimizer.
Gear up for this one-day event of networking with experts in the field of victims’ rights and gain knowledge, training and the practical skills necessary to provide effective service to victims of crime.
Lunch (buffet & sandwiches) will be available for nominal fee at the Doubletree hotel. Free parking is available on-site.
