A 31-year-old California man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for prostitution and human trafficking in Howard County Circuit Court last week. Rowland James Duffey, who listed his address in Long Beach, Calif., was sentenced by Judge Louis A. Becker III on Friday, Aug. 23 for transporting a 22-year-old Maine woman to Maryland to use her as a prostitute, according to state's attorney spokesman Wayne Kirwan.  Duffey, who was operating out of an Extended Stay America hotel on Eli Whitney Drive in Columbia, allegedly used an undisclosed website to solicit prostitution, and was arrested in August of 2012 after the victim was able to admit herself to a hospital and call police.
